Santiago Solari’s Real Madrid will look to return to winning ways when they welcome Sevilla to the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Los Blancos were handed an embarrassing 1-0 defeat by Leganes in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night, once again highlighting their lack of consistency this season.

Having suffered a 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture at the Sanchez Pizjuan, the pressure will be on Solari’s men to prove their worth and come up with a fitting reply.

Here are three things to look forward to as Real host Sevilla in La Liga

3. Sevilla’s Poor Run of Form

Andre Silva

In their last meeting, Sevilla produced one of their best performances of the season. Coach Pablo Machin has done well to keep his side in contention for the top-four but the last few weeks haven’t been up to the mark.

Since capitalising on a rare Barcelona slip-up and moving to the top of La Liga in late November, the Andalusians have only won one of their last six games.

They will need to avoid defeat to keep their top-four hopes alive, which makes them a desperate and dangerous team to face.

2. Real’s Unpredictable Squad Selection

Santiago Solari

Despite managing a good number of matches, Santiago Solari still has a few doubts over his first-choice XI. He made a number of changes to his team in the Copa del Rey defeat to Leganes and most of them did not work out.

Thibaut Courtois and Karim Benzema are expected to return to the fold tonight, but Isco’s involvement is still anybody’s guess.

Vinicius Junior, the most in-form Real Madrid player at the moment, will once again be the player in focus as Los Blancos aim to get one over a gritty Sevilla side.

1. Battle for Third

Vinicius Jr.

Real Madrid and Barcelona always start the season as title favourites and this season too was no exception. Now standing at the midway point of the season, it’s clear which team has lived up to the pre-season hype.

Even from this point onwards, Los Blancos will look to finish as high as possible. Sevilla and Real are tied at 33 points, sitting in third and fourth positions respectively.

A win tonight would not only give them the upper hand in the table but also give them a solid confidence boost heading into the business end of the campaign.

Looking forward to things we can expect as Real Madrid host Sevilla in La Liga
