The Gunners will be looking to resume their winning streak in the league, and put pressure on Chelsea in the race for a top four position while the Hammers look to continue their recent good run of form and rise further in the top half of the table.
Here are three things to look forward to as West Ham host Arsenal –
3. Arsenal’s Defence Fully Stocked Again
Apart from Rob Holding, manager Unai Emery can boast of nearly a full compliment of defenders once again this season, as the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal and Konstantinos Mavrapanos have all returned to first-team training.
It remains to be seen who will start the game against West Ham, and who will eventually be the first choice for Emery as the Gunners look to become solid defensively to give their attack a better chance of winning them games.
2. Nasri Returns to Face Former Team
Former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri is likely to make his Premier League debut for West Ham in this game, after he signed with the London club having served his doping ban.
Nasri has already played once for the Hammers, in the FA Cup game against Birmingham City, which they won comfortably.
It remains to be seen what kind of an impact he will have on the game and for West Ham in general as they look to continue their recent good form and rise up the table.
1. Arsenal’s Poor Recent Away Form
Arsenal have not won any of their last four away games, losing two and drawing two, and they would want to stop that streak from continuing.
Their record in London derbies though has been impressive, winning four and losing just one – the second game of the season against Chelsea.
Their defence will have to stand strong against a good West Ham attack as Emery would send his side out with the hope that they can do the double against the Hammers this season.
