National award-winning cinematographer Santosh Sivan has revealed that he has been signed for superstar Rajinikanth’s next Tamil film. On Sunday, Sivan took to Twitter to make the announcement.
“Finally, very excited to work with Rajini sir after Thalapathy.”
Santosh Sivan tweeted on Sunday to share the news about his film with Rajinikanth.
This will be the second time he will work on a Rajinikanth starrer since Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathy.
If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, Rajinikanth’s next film will be directed by AR Murugadoss and will mark their first-time collaboration. The project may be bankrolled by Lyca Productions and is expected to start rolling from March onwards. It is rumoured that the film could be a political one.
There are also reports that this project could be his last film before he hangs up his boots to concentrate on his political career.
Rajinikanth was last seen playing a hostel warden with a violent past in Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta.
Murugadoss’ last outing was Sarkar with Vijay. Apparently, Murugadoss had pitched a story to Rajinikanth over two years ago. His project had been put on hold due to the latter’s recent commitments.
Originally, the project was supposed to be produced by Sun Pictures. However, they pulled out of it after their previous outing with Murugadoss, Sarkar, was mired in controversy. Subsequently, Lyca Productions took over the reins. While Lyca had produced Rajinikanth’s 2.0, they ventured into production with Murugadoss’s Kaththi.
The cast and crew are yet to be finalised. Anirudh Ravichander may be to be roped in as the composer after his terrific work in Petta.
