Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been on fire off late, as has the whole of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad. But, in the win against Fulham at Craven Cottage, Martial achieved a special milestone in his Red Devil career as he has now had a crucial role to play in 50 Premier League goals for the club.
United raced into a 2-0 lead within the opening 23 minutes of their game with Fulham at Craven Cottage with Anthony Martial heavily involved in both goals, assisting one and scoring one. Martial received a pass on the halfway line from Phil Jones before blitzing his way past Denis Odoi and Maxime Le Marchand en route to burying a calm finish beyond Sergio Rico into the far corner.
According to stats reviewed from Whoscored, with his assist and goal against Fulham, Martial has now been involved in 50 direct goal contributions in the Premier League since his arrival at Old Trafford.
From his 106 Premier League appearances, Martial has netted 33 goals and provided 17 assists, more than any other United player has managed since he made his debut in that game against Liverpool in the league.
However, that is not it. Martial’s goal yesterday meant that the Frenchman has now equaled his second best-ever scoring record in the Premier League with nine goals. His highest goal tally for United was in his first season in 2015-16 when he netted 11 times. At the current pace, Martial is definitely achieving his highest goalscoring season this year.
