Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed that he was looking to bring in three players during the January transfer window, but said that he was happy with the squad that he has even if they signed only Denis Suarez.
The Gunners were linked with Ivan Perisic and Yannick Carrasco, with both players expected to come to the team on loan until the end of the season. However, nothing came off those links, and Arsenal could only confirm Suarez’s signing.
However, Emery has insisted that he is satisfied with the players he has in the squad, even though they were planning to bring in at least three more to add to the team.
“The club was working all we can,” Emery said, according to Goal.
“We were speaking about the possibility of maybe taking three players, but only if they can come here with our conditions, and also if we think they can help us with good performances, better than the players we have here. Only Denis Suarez joined and we’re happy. The club worked very well.
“This transfer window is not easy and it isn’t possible to change a lot of things to help us with a very big performance, and I am very happy with the players we have here. We have some players who are recovering after injuries and I think they can help us with the final three months of the season.”
Arsenal currently have three players out for the rest of the season, and the team now have to face Manchester City on Sunday hoping to get all three points.
