Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has revealed that he is excited by the idea of playing all three forwards Alvaro Morata, Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann in the same starting lineup.
Costa was out injured for more than two months, which prompted the Spanish side to make a move in the transfer window to bring in another forward, with Morata deemed the right person to sign up for the short term.
Simeone said that there will certainly be times when the team will likely line up with all three forwards, and is looking forward to working with the trident.
“I love it, but it needs time, work, extraordinary physical condition of the three,” Simeone said, according to Goal. “I hope that at some point we can use it with more time. Lemar’s entry gave us more speed and dynamism.”
The Atletico manager also revealed that he was happy to have Costa back from injury, believing that the player helped Morata get more comfortable in the team.
“I see him very strong, it was not easy to enter the game,” he said. “He joined the team very well, he worked very well defensively and that made me very happy. hey fear him and that strengthens us as a team. He takes the game forward.
“Costa gave Morata more chances to feel more free and comfortable, and as always, Griezmann, who is the important player we have, taking advantage of everything that can happen in front of him.”
It remains to be seen if the team can reduce the deficit between themselves, Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title.
