Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez has admitted that the atmosphere surrounding the club wasn’t healthy under former manager Jose Mourinho, with the Chilean revealing that the team “lost confidence” due to the Portugese’ tactics and methods.
The 30-year-old who moved from Arsenal to United in 2018, was signed by Mourinho, but the player has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford so far. He has suffered from both form and fitness issues, which has seen him come in for criticism from both the fans and football pundits.
Despite falling out of favour with Mourinho before his sacking, Sanchez believes that he is one of the best coaches in the world, though his methods were not suited to a club like United.

“Mourinho is one of the best coaches in the world, in the way that he coaches, how he studies videos, the way he goes about things. But within the group, there was that feeling that you were in the team, then out,” he said as quoted by BBC.
“Sometimes I didn’t play, then I did, then I didn’t and as a player you lose confidence. Each player lost their confidence. Then an atmosphere was created that wasn’t healthy.”
The Chilean who is a doubt for United’s fifth round FA Cup clash against Chelsea after injuring himself in a collision with with a linesman during last week’s 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, has only scored five goals for Red Devils in 37 games so far.
