Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has opened up about the Munir El Haddadi situation at the Nou Camp, revealing that, “the Catalan giants want to get rid of the striker,” after the Spaniard refused to extend his contract with the club beyond the end of the season.
The 23-year-old’s contract with the club expires at the end of the season, with it being understood that the player wants to make a move in the summer and this decision has not gone down well with the Barcelona hierarchy who do not want a player on their books who is not committed to their cause.
With his contract running down, Munir is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a club interested in his services in January and Valverde feels that it would be better for all parties concerned if he moves this month.
“It seems Munir has taken a decision and, evidently, the club have also made a decision. We want a solution as soon as possible. If that can be this month, even better,” Valverde said when asked about the situation.
The striker has been linked with fellow La Liga side Sevilla, who are reportedly interested in signing him, though no deal regarding a transfer has been announced as yet.
