Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri is reportedly ready to pay as much as £50 million for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, if he is unable to land his primary target, Gonzalo Higuain.

As per Sky Sports, Sarri remains keen on signing Higuain, despite the club’s board not convinced by the Argentine’s credentials. The Blues’ CEO Marina Granovskaia is reportedly not sure the AC Milan striker is the answer to the club’s problems at the striker position.

Currently on loan at Milan, the Juventus man has been unsettled at the San Siro for the past six months and could be open to a move away. However, any potential deal might be complicated since he is still on the books of the Bianconeri

He has previously played under Sarri at Napoli, scoring 36 goals during the 2015/16 campaign, before moving to the Turin giants. If the Italian coach is able to convince his board to sign the Argentinian, then that could mean a possible exit for one of Alvaro Morata or Olivier Giroud.

However, in case they do not move for Higuain, the Stamford Bridge outfit will be looking to sign Wilson from the Cherries, who has been impressive this season, having scored 10 goals in 23 games in all competitions.

With assistant coach Gianfranco Zola having confirmed last month that Chelsea are interested in Callum Wilson, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has a tough task on his hands to convince his star striker to stay in case the Blues decide to act on their interest.
