Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has claimed that Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is the greatest player of all time and revealed that he did not enjoy the games he played against the Argentine last year.
Barcelona played Chelsea in the Round of 16 in the Champions League last season, with the Spanish side prevailing over the London club and knocking them out of the competition. Hazard has now said that those games were certainly not his best and also revealed that in his opinion there was only player who can be called the greatest of all time.
“Two G.O.A.T.s (Greatest of All Time) you say? No way. There is only one G.O.A.T: Him, Lionel Messi!” the Chelsea man explained to HLN.
“Those two games against Barcelona were not my best memories of 2018. I was happy to play against Barcelona and Messi, but I didn’t deliver what I expected. I was disillusioned.
“My three sons were there for the home match at Stamford Bridge. The eldest is a big Messi fan – all of us are Messi fans, actually. He wanted to see Messi that day, because Messi is a special player.”
Hazard will not have the chance to play Barcelona this season, considering Chelsea are in the Europa League, but he would be hoping the team get back into the Champions League at the end of this season.
The Blues are currently six points ahead of sixth placed Arsenal and have the chance to further cement their lead when the two teams face other next weekend.
