Copa del Rey: Three Things to Look out for as Levante Host Barcelona | ht_media

Barcelona travel to the Ciutat de Valencia stadium to face Levante in the first leg of the round of 16 in the Copa Del Rey. The La Liga champions have already won the tournament four years in a row and will hoping to make it a fifth consecutive title.

Here are three things to look out for in the Levante vs Barcelona game.

3. No Messi and Suarez

Both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are absent for the match against Levante, with manager Ernesto Valverde choosing to rest his star players for this game. Striker Munir will also not be present in the squad, as the manager has indicated that the player, whose contract is set to expire in six months, has already played his last game for the club.

Barcelona have been repeat winners of the competition, having won it the last four years. They have won the cup 30 times in total in their history and will want to make it the fifth consecutive year that they win it. They have also been present in seven of the last eight finals as well, showing their dominance in the tournament. 

1. Levante’s poor tournament form

Levante have not been past the round of 16 stage of the Copa del Rey since 2014 and will want to fix that record. However, they face a Barcelona side that have picked up form in the last couple of months. Levante, however, will take heart from their 5-4 win towards the end of the last season, which ended Barcelona’s unbeaten run in the league.
