Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has opened up on the departure of talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, revealing that the 33-year-old is “not talked about in the dressing room.”

The Portuguese superstar shocked the world when he decided to call it quits after nine glorious years in Madrid, eventually deciding to move to the Serie A in a deal said to be worth around £89 million.

The Belgian, who did not get the opportunity to play with the striker considering that he moved to the club only in the summer, admitted that Ronaldo is a closed chapter when it comes to the dressing room.

“He is not being talked about in the locker room. It is mainly the press that drops his name. There were matches that we lost in which we got 10 chances but did not score. At the same time he scores two for Juventus. Then it’s easy to talk about him.” he said, as quoted by talkSPORT.

Los Blancos have at times struggled for goals in Ronaldo’s absence this season, with the club suffering from inconsistent performances, especially domestically.

However, Karim Benzema has stepped up for them this campaign, netting 17 goals in all competitions and will need to continue his form, if Madrid are to defend their European crown and challenge Barcelona’s superiority domestically.
