Chelsea hitman Eden Hazard is the only footballer to have registered both goals and assists in double figures this season, thus matching the feat achieved by Barcelona‘s one and only Lionel Messi, who is having yet another unbelievable season for Barcelona

The Belgian, like Messi, is in the form of his life since the initial weeks of the domestic season. Hazard, astonishingly, showed no signs of tiredness and eased off into top form following a tiring FIFA World Cup campaign in Russia in which he helped his country to the semi-final of the tournament. Belgium eventually won the bronze medal at the global event.

At the start of this domestic season in 2018, it was expected that Hazard would take time to settle back in to club football after a tiring experience in Russia, but he actually managed his fitness well and registered 12 goals for club and country up till now.

The 28-year-old has not only delivered goals, but also contributed a steady stream of assists for his Chelsea teammates. Ahead of the clash against Newcastle, Hazard provided nine assists to his teammates through the season. He went on to provide another assist against the Magpies as he helped Willian get on the scoresheet for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Hazard has been placed in the ‘world-class’ bracket on numerous occasions and while that is totally justified, the Belgian hasn’t yet reached the heights that could see him compared to modern day footballing greats like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on a regular basis.
