Europa League: Three Things to Look out for as Malmo Host Chelsea | ht_media

Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea travel to Sweden to play Malmo FF at the Swedbank Stadion in the first leg of the Round of 32 in the Europa League. The Blues will be looking to recover from the weekend’s thrashing by Manchester City and will want to win big to avoid any chance of them spiraling down in a losing streak.

Here are three things to look out for in the Malmo vs Chelsea game.

3. Chelsea look to bounce back

Eden Hazard

Having suffered a humiliating 6-0 loss to the defending champions in the Premier League on Sunday, Chelsea will want to bounce back immediately, considering they have to play Manchester United and Manchester City in their next two games. A loss or a draw would not work for the team, even if manager Maurizio Sarri rotates his side for the game.

2. Malmo’s home form

Malmo will not fancy their chances against Chelsea in the overall tie, but will be looking to trouble the opposition in their home game. The Swedish side have not lost any of their last eight home games in European competition, and will want to continue that form in this match as well.

With Chelsea dispirited after last weekend’s defeat, it could be a good time to play them.

1. Europa League

Maurizio Sarri

Having dropped down to sixth place in the Premier League after last weekend’s drubbing, Chelsea will look towards Europa League as a legitimate route to get back into next season’s Champions League.

They had enjoyed a good goal difference and three point lead on the domestic until this point, but that was wiped out and now Arsenal and Manchester United will fancy their chances of getting back into the fray,

The Blues will in all certainty need to make a statement via the Europa League
