Former England and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has omitted Jose Mourinho from his list of favourite managers, and instead revealing that he had the most fun playing under coaches Luiz Felipe Scolari and Carlo Ancelotti.
Cole was part of the Chelsea squad for eight seasons, winning the Premier League, Champions League and the Europa League once each. He also won the FA Cup five times during his time with the Blues.
However, the Englishman, who is currently playing under former teammate Frank Lampard at Derby County, did not mention Mourinho even though he played under the Portuguese for three seasons.
“I enjoyed Scolari and Ancelotti, probably my favourite two,” Cole said on Sky Sports, according to Goal.
“I think Scolari [is my favourite], he came at a time when I wasn’t playing as well as I knew I could when I first came to Chelsea – I wasn’t the Ashley Cole they knew at Arsenal.
“He came and he brought this new lease of life, it was like playing for Brazil. He had me bombing up and down against players like Jamie Carragher, with [Jose] Bosingwa on the other side.
“We had no rules, we could go where we wanted, left and right-backs going at the same time. We were playing great football, but by December it had petered out and he got the sack.”
Mourinho had moved to Manchester United from Chelsea, but since has received the sack there as well, with the team not performing at the same level as the previous season.
