Franck Ribery sent out an ultimate tribute message to his former Bayern Munich teammate Arjen Robben after the 35-year-old announced his retirement from football on Thursday.

Robben decided to move on to the next step in his life after his contract expired in June, thus bringing an end to one of the most glorious careers in football.

And his long-time colleague, Franck Ribery, who also left the Bavarians at the end of last season, took to Twitter to send out an emotional tweet to the Dutchman.

The 36-year-old French winger wrote: “THANK YOU • DANKE • MERCI • DANKJEWEL @ArjenRobben! Best @FCBayern counterpart I could imagine, #Robbery will never be forgotten! What a career my friend, now enjoy your time off the pitch.”

Robben spent a decade in Germany and made over 200 appearances for Bayern Munich. The former Netherlands international enjoyed an incredible career with the club as he lifted eight Bundesliga titles, five German Cups and a Champions League.

Meanwhile, Ribery is yet to decide on the future course of action with regards to his own career. Speaking about his future to German outlet BILD, the Frenchman recently said, “I feel really good. I have not yet made a decision about my future, I will do it within two weeks. I received many good offers from Europe. I have to think about my family and my sons.”
