It is no secret that Argentina legend Diego Maradona and fellow countryman Lionel Messi share an uneasy relationship and the 1986 World Cup winner has reignited the flames again by taking a sly dig at Messi.

Maradona who was admitted to a hospital recently for an emergency operation has once again come out and attacked the Barcelona star over his lack of leadership skills, claiming that, “he is not able to be a leader.”

“I love Messi with all my heart. They want to make him a leader but he isn’t able to do that because he’s going to be in his sporting world and with his family,” he told Argentine newspaper ‘Olé’ as quoted by Mirror.

This is not the first time that the legend who himself represented Barcelona in the past has taken a swipe at Messi, with Maradona criticising the player following Argentina’s dismal run at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Another legendary footballer in Pele too has expressed his dissatisfaction with calling Messi the ‘Greatest of all time’, revealing that, players like himself, Maradona, Johan Cryuff and Franz Beckenbaeur were better than the striker and that there can be no comparison between him and a guy who shoots with one leg, has only skill and does not head the ball.
