LONDON: Iran will preserve navy forces in Syria, the top of the elite Revolutionary Guards stated on Wednesday, defying Israeli threats that they may be focused if they don’t depart the nation.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Tuesday that Israeli forces would proceed to assault Iranians in Syria except they rapidly get out of there.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will preserve its navy advisers, revolutionary forces and its weapons in Syria,” Main Normal Mohammad Ali Jafari, the Revolutionary Guards high commander, was quoted as saying by the semi-official ISNA information company. Jafari known as Netanyahu’s threats “a joke”, and warned that the Israeli authorities “was taking part in with (a) lion’s tail.”

“You need to be afraid of the day that our precision-guided missiles roar and fall in your head,” he stated.

Iran and Russia have each backed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in a seven-year struggle in opposition to rebels and militants, and have despatched 1000’s of troopers to the nation.

Israel, more and more involved that its enemy Iran might set up a long-term navy presence in neighbouring Syria, says it has carried out greater than 200 assaults in opposition to Iranian targets in Syria within the final two years.

Netanyahu stated on Sunday that Israeli warplanes carried out an assault on what he known as an Iranian arms cache in Syria.
