Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has revealed that he is calm about his future with the club considering his contract situation, but is not sure whether he will ever return to play in Spain in the near future.

Mata has only six months left on his contract and the club has reportedly not given him a new deal yet. The player can speak to clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement and leave for free in the summer.

However, the player has remained calm about the situation and is not worried about not having a contract yet, while also suggesting that a return to Spain in the near future is unlikely.

“I don’t know,” Mata told AS. “I’ve been in England for a good while, in a league that I’m well accustomed to and where I’ve adapted well, but it’s true that at times you miss home, your family, your friends.

“But I don’t know if I’ll return to Spain in the near future.”

“I’m calm [about the situation at United]. I’m at the fantastic club that is Manchester United, one of the biggest in the world.

“I have to think about the short term and do well from now on.”

Mata has been one of the better performers for Manchester United over the last couple of seasons, but it remains to be seen if the club will offer a new deal to the Spaniard who is on the wrong side of 30. There would, however, be no dearth of offers for the players once his deal does expire at the end of the season.
