Leeds United have agreed a lucrative kit deal with adidas which will increase in value if Marcelo Bielsa’s side earn promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds, who have just six months remaining on their existing deal with Kappa, currently find themselves second in the Championship despite some questionable form, and the hope is that they will finally be able to seal a return to England’s top tier.

With the Kappa deal approaching its end, the Daily Mail report that Leeds have now agreed terms with adidas, who will assume control of the club’s kit manufacturing at the end of the season, regardless of what division they find themselves in.

The hope is that Leeds will earn promotion this season, and a return to the top flight would secure Bielsa’s side more money as part of this deal.

However, even if they remain a Championship side, adidas are eager to get involved with Leeds as their replica kit sales are among the best in the country.

Leeds’ kits have been made by Kappa ever since 2015, when the club were working to recover from a horribly turbulent period which had seen them drop as low as League One. Fortunately, their comeback has given them more options when it comes to sponsorship deals.

Back in the 2003/04 season, which was Leeds’ last in the Premier League, the team’s kits were sponsored by Nike, but this will be the first time that they have partnered with adidas.

Alongside this deal, Leeds are also thought to be looking for a new shirt sponsor as well, amid concerns over the conduct of current partners 32Red.

The online casino company have faced plenty of criticism for their public support of Wayne Rooney’s move to Derby County. The Englishman wears 32 as his shirt number at Pride Park, which has attracted some serious scrutiny.

Preston North End, who are also sponsored by 32Red, are eager to sever ties with the company over their handling of Rooney’s transfer, and it is thought that Leeds could look to do the same.
