​​Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has now moved three goals ahead of rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for the European Golden Shoe after his winner against Real Valladolid in the La Liga on Saturday.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has now scored 30 or more goals in 11 consecutive seasons for Barcelona, with Ronaldo also on the list after the Portugese completed the feat last campaign. Such has been his impact this season, that the Barcelona talisman has not only scored 30 goals but has also registered 17 assists, showing just how important he is to the Catalan giants.

Ronaldo for his part has 19 goals to his name in the Serie A, moving ahead of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe who has scored 18 goals, while Mohamed Salah, Edinson Cavani, Krzysztof Piatek & Sergio Aguero also not too far behind them with 17 goals respectively.

Messi could have added another to his tally, if not for a missed penalty has won the last two Golden Shoe award and has put himself as the favourite to win it for a third consecutive season. The 31-year-old will look to bang in more goals as the Catalan giants enter into a difficult run which sees them play four away games in the next fortnight.
