Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has a number of records to his name, with it seeming like he reaches a new landmark everytime he sets foot on the field. The striker was it again, doing what he does best, as his brace helped the Catalan giants secure a 2-2 draw with Valencia in the La Liga.

Following this brace, the 31-year-old set a number of amazing stats, with the Argentinian becoming the first player in Europe’s top-five leagues to net 20 goals or more this season. This also means that he has now scored 20 goals or more for 11 consecutive seasons, with his prolific run starting in 2008/09.

To add to this, Messi has been involved in 31 goals this season, while also becoming only the third player in the history of the La Liga to score 50 goals from the penalty spot. Such are his performances on the pitch, that the 31-year-old is on his best goalscoring run in five years, with the last time he was not involved in a goal when on the pitch was in September last year.

With 29 goals in 27 games this season, there is no doubt that Messi is without doubt in some of the best form of his life at the moment.
