Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have without doubt been two of the best players in the sport over the past decade or so, with the duo dominating the sport, winning five Ballon d’Or awards each.

Messi and Ronaldo have once again put in brilliant performances for Barcelona and Juventus this season, however the difference between the duo has been clear, with the Argentinian registering better than numbers than his rival.

A look at the numbers show that Messi has been much more effective, scoring 29 goals so far, compared to Ronaldo who has netted 17 times. The 31-year-old has been better when it comes to providing for his teammates, registering 14 assists, while the Portugese star has seven to his name.

When it comes to dribbling, Messi has 96 while Ronaldo has only dribbled 33 times this season and finally the Barcelona superstar has picked up 13 Man of the Match awards, while the 33-year-old has got seven.

Another interesting tidbit is that Messi has missed three weeks of action due to an injury earlier in the season, which just goes to show the impact he has had for the Catalan giants this season.

With the season now progressing to the business end, there is no doubt that both the players will be key if their teams are pick up silverware come the end of the campaign.
