Bayern Munich defender, Joshua Kimmich, admits that Liverpool are the favourites to make their way into the Champions League quarterfinals, as he feels the Bavarians are not as consistent as before.
The Bundesliga holders make the trip to Anfield for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday night.
Bayern sit two points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund, having played a game more, and haven’t really been at their best under Niko Kovac. There have also been reports of multiple dressing room rifts, pointing towards the Croatian’s inability to keep his players in check.
Joshua Kimmich: “Liverpool are the favourites. They have lost one league game all season and have let in only 15 goals. But when you look at us, we are not as consistent as before.”

The trip to Liverpool won’t be easy, and Kimmich, unapologetically, has decided to call a spade a spade.
When asked about his side’s upcoming trip to Merseyside, the German defender, as quoted by the Telegraph, said: “Liverpool are the favourites. They have lost one league game all season and have let in only 15 goals. But when you look at us, we are not as consistent as before.”
The young defender adores Pep Guardiola but also has respect for former Borussia Dortmund boss, Jurgen Klopp.
“It’s amazing, the emotion he has, on the field, with the fans,” he says.
“You can see how he pushes his players to another level. Every player is better with this coach.”
Kimmich also tipped the Liverpool boss to manage the German national team in the future.
“He can coach every team, including our national team. Everybody likes him. He is just really…Authentic,” he concluded.
