Liverpool are reportedly set to break their transfer record and spend £125million on Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz, according to reports in Spain.
Havertz is one of Europe’s most sought after talents having become a regular during the past four seasons – and was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Year last season. He has played over 100 games for Leverkusen since making his debut as a 16-year-old and has represented the German national side seven times.

The European champions are willing to shell out in excess of £100m – which would be higher than the £75m they spent on Virgil van Dijk. Jurgen Klopp considers Havertz a potential Adam Lallana replacement, with the England ace out of contract at the end of the season.
In an interview with Bild last year, Havertz spoke of his future ambitions, and said, “I am honest, at some point the next step must come for me.
“But I’m not going to worry about when exactly that will happen. What counts now is Bayer Leverkusen. We still have a lot to do. Leverkusen very quickly signaled that they wanted to keep me.
“That’s why it wasn’t an issue for me. Now I’m starting my tenth year here, maybe we can make it a golden one for the club. What will happen afterwards has not yet been decided. There is no club where I have already signed.”
Liverpool have made two signings in January, with Takuami Minamino arriving from Red Bull Salzburg, and Joe Hardy taking his place in the Under-23 squad.
