Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that speculation surrounding the club’s pursuit of Mauricio Pochettino is there for a reason, considering that the Argentinian has done splendidly ever since taking charge of Tottenham Hotspur.
The two managers are set to face-off when the two teams play in Wembley on Sunday in the Premier League, with Solskjaer admitting that he understands why his opposite number is the favourite to take the reigns at Old Trafford in the summer.
“He’s done a very good job. The speculation is there for a reason because he’s done well but it’s not my job to rate different managers. My focus is on me and my team,” he said in a press conference.
Solskjaer has a difficult job on his hands as United have not beaten Tottenham away from home since March 2012, with their last win against them coming under Sir Alex Ferguson. However, the Red Devils are full of confidence after winning their last five matches, with the Norwegian confirming that he will look to take the attack to a Spurs side who like to dominate possession.
United are currently placed sixth in the league table with 38 points from 21 games, 10 behind their opponents who find themselves in third place.
