The defender is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2020 but Unai Emery’s side have contacted United about the possibility of taking the Ivory Coast international on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
Daily Mail report that United do not want to lose the 24-year-old at this stage of the campaign and have no interest in doing anything that might assist a direct rival.

Bailly’s contract expires next summer, but the club has the option of a two year extension on it. However, a decision will not be made on whether to activate it until the new permanent manager is in place, the report adds.
The Ivorian defender has started just one game under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer up till now and was red carded on his debut under the Norwegian coach. The report adds that Bailly intends to stay on at United in order to prove himself worthy of a starting XI spot at the club once again after not being able to perform at full potential under Jose Mourinho.
Arsenal will take on Manchester United in an FA Cup fourth round tie this Friday.
