Manchester City suffered a shock defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday night, and will be looking to bounce back against Arsenal at the Etihad this weekend.
Prior to the 2-1 loss at St. James’ Park, City had won eight games on the bounce.
Pep Guardiola’s men will go into the game on Sunday five points behind leaders Liverpool, but can cut the gap to just two points prior to the Reds Monday night game.
Here’s how Man City could line up against Arsenal.
1. Goalkeeper and Defenders
Ederson (GK) – City’s number one keeper had kept four consecutive clean sheets before the Newcastle match and has a total of 14 so far this season.
Kyle Walker (RB) – Featured in all but four league games, the former Tottenham man will be up for this game more than most.
John Stones (CB) – The 24-year-old has formed a strong partnership with Laporte this season.
Aymeric Laporte (CB) – Celebrated a year at the club on Wednesday, the French centre-back has been a revelation in Manchester and has established himself as one of the league’s best.
Danilo (LB) – City’s versatile defender has started the last six league games since his return from an ankle injury.
Fernandinho (DM) – The Brazilian has missed two Premier League games this season – the defeats to Crystal Palace and Leicester City – and his importance to City cannot be stressed enough.
David Silva (AM) – One of the first names on the team sheet, the 33-year-old is one goal away from reaching double figures for the season.
Kevin De Bruyne (AM) – The mercurial Belgian has yet to find top form since returning from injury, but is still one of City’s main men.
Raheem Sterling (RW) – The England winger has 10 goals and seven assists for the season, including the opening goal in August’s reverse fixture.
Sergio Aguero (ST) – Scored inside 30 seconds on Tuesday, Aguero has eight goals in 14 appearances against the Citizens.
Leroy Sane (LW) – After an early season struggle for game time, the 23-year-old is in the form of his life and has reached double figures in goals and assists in all competitions.
