Manchester United have reportedly cooled their interest in signing defender Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina, following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, as per ESPN. The former Red Devils manager wanting to sign the centre-back in the January transfer window.
The sacking of Mourinho has seen United shift their interest towards Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar, whom the club hierarchy believe are better options in order to strengthen the squad.
Milenkovic was watched by United’s scouts a number of times last year, with Mourinho even going to watch him in action during Serbia’s 2-0 win over Montenegro in the UEFA Nations League in October.

The Old Trafford outfit retain an interest in him but will prioritise other targets, though they believe that in all probability they will need to wait till the summer to sign the players they want as they will not be available to sign in January.
Interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly informed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward that he is happy to work with the current squad and if any signings are to be made, it will have to be the right player as they already have enough resources at their disposal.
The Red Devils will next be seen in action on Sunday, the 13th of January when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
