Italy international and former AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli will join French side Marseille till the end of the season, according to a report in ESPN. The deal is set to cost Marseille 3 million, though it does not include an offer for next season, with it being understood that the club could offer the striker an additional one-year deal if his performances are upto the mark and that they can clear room in the squad for him.
Balotelli who’s contract with Nice was terminated is said to be in the city for a medical and is expected to to be in Rudi Garcia’s squad on Friday when they face second-placed Lille in Ligue 1.
Nice manager Patrick Viera has not been impressed by the 28-year-old, with the French legend dropping him from the squad for their last five matches, while also giving him, a “few days to think about his future.”
Once considered as one of the best young talents in the world, Balotelli has sadly failed to make use of his talent, getting into trouble for his off-field antics. He has still managed to play 10 games for Nice this season, but is yet to score a single goal while only providing one assist so far.
