Footballing legends Michael Owen and Joe Cole believe that players would always choose to join Chelsea rather than Arsenal, if given the chance, claiming that, the Blues despite their struggles off late, “always compete for trophies”.
The two clubs are not having the best of seasons, with both Chelsea and Arsenal employing new managers in Maurizio Sarri and Unai Emery respectively, with the duo currently competing in the second-tier Europa League in Europe.
“Chelsea and Arsenal are virtually mirror image. They’re on the same points in the Premier League, on the same goal difference in the Premier League, and in the same round of the Europa League. It’s pretty much a level playing field, but which team would you prefer to play for?,” Owen said as quoted by Dailymail.
“When Chelsea go on a bad run, it becomes a crisis quicker.” 🔵
“With Arsenal, people accept they probably aren’t going to win anything.” 🔴

“Which team do you look at and go, wow what player, good team? Everyone says Chelsea are under a big cloud, but I’d prefer Chelsea every day of the week over Arsenal.”
While Cole added, “Because the expectation is that they (Chelsea) have always got to be there (competing for titles), which Chelsea have been for the last 20 years, it becomes a crisis quicker than it does at Arsenal. With Arsenal, they’re probably not going to win anything, they’re in a ten year transitional period. Chelsea demand to win things.”
Both the clubs have registered the same amount of points so far in the Premier League and it will be interesting to see whether either of them finish in the top four come the end of the season and qualify for the Champions League next year.
