Paris Saint-Germain and Brazilian superstar Neymar’s father has hit out at reports claiming that he has been begging La Liga side Barcelona to re-sign his son. He also branded reports that he felt it was a mistake to move to France as fake news.
Neymar moved to PSG from Barcelona a couple of seasons ago, which made him the world’s most expensive player, in a bid to come out of the shadow of Lionel Messi.
However, there have been consistent rumours that he would like to return to the Blaugrana, with a concerted effort reportedly made by all parties in the summer.
Now, his father has come to his defence on social media and said that any reports that said his son wanted to return to France were fake news, as reported by ESPN.
The senior Neymar took to social media and branded various reports saying the same as fake news, making it clear that they player has no intention of leaving.
In fact, if anything, the Brazilian seems to have to got his mojo back this season, having scored 19 goals in 21 appearances so far in the campaign. He has had tremendous success in France, winning the Ligue 1 title twice with the club.
They, however, recently lost to Guingamp in the Coupe de la Ligue, bringing an end to their 49-game unbeaten run in domestic cup competitions.
It remains to be seen if Neymar will continue with the same club or if he will look to move back to Spain or other leagues in the near future.
