Norwich City’s attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell is of transfer interest to Manchester United, according to David Ornstein of the Athletic.

United, who are understocked in the midfield department, are looking to do business in the January transfer window, though there is an understanding that it is a tough time for deals to be done.

Cantwell, however, is young, British and has enjoyed a successful debut season in the Premier League so far – and fits into the profile of player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to bring to the club.

The 21-year-old has 7 goal involvements this season for strugglers Norwich, scoring 5 and assisting twice, and could fit into the number ten role at United that needs filling.

The Old Trafford club has suffered a number of times this season due to their inability to strengthen in the position in the summer coupled with a long injury layoff to Paul Pogba.

Scott McTominay’s recent injury, that shelves him for up to two months, has not helped the cause either, forcing the club’s hand in the January transfer window.

Ornstein also claims that United aren’t the only club with an eye on Cantwell though, with rivals Liverpool also in the mix.

However, there is no indication that the interest from either club will materialise in a concrete bid for the player.
