Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has hailed his Arsenal counterpart, Unai Emery, for his incredible work ethic and indomitable fighting spirit.

Emery’s Arsenal make the trip to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday hoping to inflict a second successive defeat on the reigning champions following their shock midweek defeat to Newcastle United.

Former Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola, knows all about Emery having come up against his Valencia team in the Spanish top-flight on numerous occasions. And even though the Catalan hasn’t tasted defeat in any of his 11 meetings with Emery during his career, Guardiola insists the former Paris Saint-Germain boss is an outstanding coach.

“He’s an incredibly well-prepared manager,” he told Sky Sports

“I’ve never been with him in his clubs but my impression from outside is that he’s a manager who is well prepared. He has an incredible work ethic, he’s a fighter and he’s an incredible, incredible manager.”

It’s not easy adapting to life in England and Guardiola feels Emery has done a decent job since replacing Arsene Wenger at the helm.

“The results he has had in the Premier League have been quite good,” he added.

“Of course they lost in the League Cup and the FA Cup, but the Premier League is tough so qualifying for the Champions League is a big success for next season.”

“The first season in England and in a new country is not easy but when I watch him from outside it’s been quite good,” he concluded.
