Barcelona director Guillermo Amor has opened up on the Philippe Coutinho situation at the club, assuring the Brazilian that he has a big future with them despite being left on the bench for the last four games.
Coutinho has not started a league game since the 2nd of December with manager Ernesto Valverde preferring to use Ousmane Dembele on the left-wing and Arthur and Arturo Vidal in midfield.
This has led to rumours that the club may decide to cash in on their record signing, something which Amor has clearly refuted.
“Coutinho’s a player with a lot of experience, one of the best players in Europe and he is ready to play [for] five minutes or 90 minutes. He’s a player that thinks more about the team than himself and there are no doubts about him being one of the best players in the world. He’s always played well for Barca, he could play [every game] from the off,” he said to Movistar.
“Barça signed him because he’s one of the best in the world and he’s going to give us a lot. He’s got many years left on his contract and a lot to give to Barcelona.”
While the midfielder has made 23 appearances so far, 15 of those have come from the bench though with the fixtures piling up, expect to see more of the Brazilian on the field as the season progresses.
