Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid continue their chase of La Liga table toppers Barcelona on Sunday as they face an overachieving Levante side at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The reigning Europa League champions, who sit five points behind the Catalan club, will be expected to pick up all three points from the game, having only been defeated once during the current league campaign.

The Atleti faithful will be hoping that their side can turn stalemates into wins though, have picked up eight draws to go with just nine wins, which is proving rather costly in their battle for their first La Liga title since 2014.

1. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Jan Oblak

Jan Oblak (GK) – The Slovenian goalkeeper is Atletico Madrid’s undisputed number one. The 26-year-old has not missed a minute of their La Liga campaign thus far.

Francisco Montero (LB) – The 19-year-old may be called upon by Diego Simeone, as the club are currently not blessed with options on the left side of the defence. Has made four La Liga appearances this season.

Diego Godin (CB) – The Atletico captain is a vital member of their water-tight defence, one of the first names on Simeone’s team sheet.

Stefan Savic (CB) – The Montenegrin could get the nod over Jose Gimenez after being rested during midweek in the Copa del Rey against Girona.

Juanfran (RB) – The veteran full-back returned to the starting eleven for their draw against Sevilla, and is also one of few options at full-back.

2. Midfielders

Angel Correa

Thomas Lemar (LM) – Like Juanfran, Lemar also returned from injury for the game against Sevilla. The Frenchman also played a full ninety minutes.

Rodri (CM) – Since arriving from Villarreal in the summer, Rodri has proven to be a first team regular for Simeone, featuring in the team’s last 12 games.

Thomas Partey (CM) – The 25-year-old Ghanaian provides a solid shield in front of the Atletico defence. Will continue in the role after being benched for the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

Koke (CM) – The Spaniard is a key player for Atleti. His versatility and ability to play anywhere across the midfield is crucial for Simeone’s side.

Angel Correa (RM) – The Argentinian attacker has featured in every game in all competitions for Simeone this season, and has chipped in with three goals for his side.

3. Attackers

Antoine Griezmann

Antoine Griezmann (ST) – The French World Cup winner is in good form coming into the Levante clash. He scored a beauty of a free kick to rescue a draw for his side away to Sevilla, and also bagged a goal at Girona in the Copa.
