Tottenham host Chelsea on Tuesday night for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium.
Mauricio Pochettino rested a number of key players including Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen during the FA Cup trip to Tranmere on Friday night and is expected to name a strong lineup as Spurs chase their first piece of silverware since 2008.
Here’s how they could look for Tuesday’s clash.
1. Goalkeeper & Defenders
Paulo Gazzaniga (GK) – Gazzaniga has been Spurs’ goalkeeper during their domestic cup competitions this season and is expected to line up between the sticks once more against Chelsea.
Kieran Trippier (RB) – Trippier was rested on Friday night and it’s likely he will be handed a start against Chelsea. The Englishman has been integral to Tottenham’s success this season having made 20 appearances, scoring once and providing three goals.
Jan Vertonghen (CB) – The experienced Belgian recently returned to full training and will be in competition with Juan Foyth for a starting berth on Tuesday night, with the Argentine having a breakthrough season following injuries to Vertonghen and Alderweireld.
Toby Alderweireld (CB) – Recently had his contract extended by Spurs until 2020, Alderweireld has been a rock in defence this season making 26 appearances in all competitions and will likely start once more.
Ben Davies (LB) – Davies was another man rested for the trip to Tranmere but has been a regular in Pochettino’s side, making 23 appearances this season across all competitions, although he has failed to provide any goals or assists this campaign.
Moussa Sissoko (CM) – The Frenchman has found himself at the base of a midfield diamond in recent weeks following injuries to Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama but has impressed in their absence with his energy and high work-rate.
Harry Winks (CM) – The youngster continues to impress for Tottenham after missing the start of the campaign following ankle surgery. Possessing great ability on the ball, Winks is certainly one with a big future ahead of him.
Christian Eriksen (CM) – The Denmark international has been a standout performer this campaign and is showing why the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona are chasing his signature. With six goals and eight assists across all competitions, he will provide a huge threat to the Chelsea backline.
Dele Alli (CAM) – Alli has rediscovered his best form this season having scored six times across all competitions. The Englishman loves scoring against Chelsea, having bagged six in his last five appearances against the Blues.
Son Heung-min (ST) – The South Korean has been in scintillating form of late netting seven goals in his last six games and will be a huge miss for Pochettino’s side when he departs for the Asian Cup.
Harry Kane (ST) – England and Tottenham’s star man was given a 20 minute cameo on Friday night and managed to get himself on the scoresheet. The Premier League’s joint top-scorer will be looking to add to his already impressive tally of 18 goals this season.
