Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe is not worried about the prospect of facing Manchester United in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, after the French giants suffered the first league defeat of the season.
PSG were beaten 2-1 by Lyon on Sunday, who ended their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season, with the club going without defeat for 20 matches. The defending champions started in the best possible way, with Angel di Maria giving them the lead, only for Moussa Dembele and Nabil Fekir to strike back and give Lyon an important win.
Mbappe though was not worried by the result, claiming that they still dominated the game.
“I don’t know if the defeat was deserved. In the first half it was deserved, but after half-time, we still dominated. We started well. We have hurt Lyon, who let the storm pass before starting to hit top gear. Lyon had opportunities and scored. We also had situations. After half-time, we put them back in the game. They scored on the only occasion they had, a penalty,” Mbappe said as quoted by fourfourtwo.
“We have not realised our many opportunities. I’m not worried about the Champions League match. We must take it match by match and wait for the Champions League. It feels good to play matches like that. Facing teams that play is the best way to prepare for the upcoming deadlines. It’s up to us to win,”
PSG face United on the 12th of February, but before that they have two games in which to bounce back.
