Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, Leonardo has confirmed that they are not close to reaching any deal with Barcelona over a potential transfer as the Catalan giants have not met the asking price for the Brazilian superstar.

Neymar has been heavily linked with a return to the Nou Camp throughout the summer, with the potential transfer dominating headlines, however nothing has come out of it so far, with the two clubs unable to come to an agreement.

“The first time we received a proposal from Barcelona for Neymar was on August 27. They have not yet given us an offer which has met our demands. PSG’s position on Neymar has always been clear: if a satisfactory offer arrives then he could leave but that is not the case. The negotiations have not broken down but there’s no agreement for now because our demands have not been met,” Leonardo said as quoted by Reuters.

The former Brazilian star went on to confirm that Neymar wants to leave the club, but that his massive price-tag is hindering a potential move.

“Neymar has always made it clear that he wants to leave but no-one has enough money to buy him. And if an offer doesn’t arrive which we think is worth it, he will stay. He’s an extraordinary player but his relationship with the club isn’t the best right now,” he added.

With the transfer window closing on the 2nd of September, Barcelona do not have a lot of time and need to work fast in order to get the Brazilian back to the club.
