Real Madrid are said to have been aggressively scouting Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek while he is undergoing training with his team in Spain as part of the Serie A side’s inaugural winter break this season.
The 23-year-old forward has been a revelation in Italy this season, scoring 13 goals already, just one behind eventual league leader Cristiano Ronaldo. His presence in Spain at the moment is one of the major reasons for his reported links with Real Madrid at the moment.
As reported by AS, Madrid have sent a scout to Murcia to watch Piatek in action when Genoa take on German third division outfit Wurzburger Kickers in a friendly on Sunday.
On the personal front, apart from his Serie A goal tally, Piatek has netted six goals in two Coppa Italia games, taking his total to 19 in 21 official games since his €4.5 million move to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris from Cracovia last summer.
With Mariano and Gareth Bale both injured, Real Madrid are in the market for an emergency striker which was predicted by Genoa, who have accordingly set their asking price for Piatek to the value of €60m for a player who has been rated worth €15m on Transfermarkt.
Meanwhile, Piatek’s agent has already confirmed his client is open to make a move to a European heavyweight as he said, “There have been many big clubs who have been knocking on our door, but there is nothing concrete yet.”
With their squad in dire need of an overhaul, Real Madrid look like they are planning for a couple of huge transfer windows successively in order to come to terms with the competition provided by an exciting La Liga season this year, something which will only get better in the coming years.
