Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari has refused to be drawn into speculation surrounding his future following their 2-0 loss to Real Sociedad, claiming, “we compete to win the next game.”
The Los Blancos fell to their sixth La Liga loss this season, a result which has seen them drop to fifth in the table, with 30 points from 18 games, which is their worst ever start to a season in the league.
Their poor performances off late has ramped up the pressure on Solari, though the Argentinian himself refused to speak about his future.
“We compete to win the next game. We compete to win, always compete to win. We always fight to win. We never underestimate the competition, never underestimate anybody. The only one who has that luxury is he who has never competed,” Solari said post the game when asked about his future at the club.
“You can never question our winning character; we showed character today, despite the difficulties. Unforgivable would be to lack that.”
Madrid have struggled with inconsistency this season, with many attributing this to the departures of talisman Cristiano Ronaldo and manager Zinedine Zidane in the summer. The Los Blancos are yet to sign a player to replace the Portugese superstar and it will be interesting to see how they cope with this setback in the near future.
