Manchester United‘s legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson had an incredible eye for talent indeed as he had already tipped current Leicester City man and in-demand defender Harry Maguire to be a great player for the future, in 2011.

The Red Devils will be having a busy transfer window overall and are reported to be trying their best to oust Manchester City and sign Maguire this summer. They have already had a £70 million move for the defender rejected earlier this summer.

And now, while writing for Unibet, Andy Mitten has sensationally revealed why Sir Alex Ferguson ensured years back that Maguire would choose Manchester United in the future.

Back in 2011, the now 26-year-old was playing in the Youth Cup final at Old Trafford. The then Sheffield United player was knocked out during the match and had to spend the night in hospital.

Mitten further reveals that, “A few days later Ferguson called Maguire and told him ‘if he kept his head down and worked hard then he would play at the top level.'”

While that boosted Maguire’s confidence, it added the desire in him to represent the Red Devils one day. United, meanwhile, have had multiple big bids for the English defender rejected and are planning another huge offer for the player they desire too much for.

However, with Manchester City still in the race for the superstar defender’s transfer, it is difficult to predict where Maguire will be seen playing next season.
