While it took me only 6 months to lose a whopping 60 kilos as I did extreme crash dieting and hardcore outdoor cardio. As a result of such quick weight loss, I got a lot of loose skin. After this, it took me around three to four years to gain muscle mass.

The turning point:
Anyone who has ever been overweight knows the struggle behind not being able to wear the clothes of your choice. While crash dieting and extreme workout did help me to lose weight rapidly, my skin became saggy and I became extremely weak. This is when I realised the importance of weight training and proper dieting to lose weight.

My breakfast: I eat instant oats, 2 eggs and 1 apple

A portion of brown rice, 1 bowl of home-cooked vegetables or dal.

I combine whey protein with any meal of the day including lunch and breakfast.

absolutely love having cheese-based recipes and shawarma.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? Well, I’m not a bodybuilder nor do I intend to be a fitness model. I just want to be fit, so that I feel good and confident.

What are the lifestyle changes you made? One of the biggest changes that I made was to change my mindset about food. Now, I treat food as a fuel rather than something to satisfy my taste buds with.

What was the lowest point for you? Even after losing a lot of weight, I did not exactly get back in shape. I used to struggle a lot with loose, sagging skin and felt weak from within. This made me realise that there is a lot more to weight loss than just crash dieting. I also understood the importance of proper weight training along with regular workout.

Lessons learnt from weight loss:
The most important lesson I learnt on my quest to lose weight was that more than training and diet, it is the mindset and will power which matters.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: It’s not about following a strict diet, rather it’s more about being balanced with your diet.

Infact, there’s no point in going after fad diets like keto. You can do intermittent fasting just once a week and still lose weight.

How do I stay motivated? I just take a look at all my old photographs and see how far I’ve come. This in itself gives me the motivation to stay right on the path of fitness.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? It is okay to cheat on your diet sometimes. Instead of feeling guilty, use that as your motivation and work harder.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? You can’t lead a normal life when you are overweight. The worst part is that the clothes of your choice do not fit you and it makes you feel pathetic.
