One of the most surprising transfers rumours of the last few days sees the continuation of Joe Hart’s downward spiral.
Less than three years ago he was Manchester City number one playing in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Now he’s being linked with a move to a bottom half Championship club after being dropped by relegation threatened Burnley.
That is among these following rumours you may have missed this week…
6. Wolves in 3-Way PL Fight For Serie A Left-Back
Wolves, Arsenal and Newcastle are the three Premier League clubs being linked with 20-year-old Juventus left-back Rogerio, a player who is currently on loan at Sassuolo.
The story originates from Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy and is shared by Sport Witness.
Sassuolo reportedly have the option to buy the young Brazilian, but a transfer to England is said to be ‘maturing’, although to which club exactly remains unclear.
The rumoured price is £20m and Jorge Mendes could be involved if Wolves win the race.
5. Championship Pair Eye Newcastle Midfielder
Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden is reportedly the subject of interest from promotion chasing Championship clubs Aston Villa and West Brom, with the Magpies said to have already rebuffed a loan approach from the latter.
According to the Daily Mirror, Hayden has decided to leave St. James’ Park for family reasons, despite being well liked and praised by manager Rafa Benitez.
The former Arsenal junior has only appeared in nine game in all competitions so far this season, although four of those have been starts in Newcastle’s last four games.
4. Chelsea Set Prohibitive Abraham Price Tag
Tammy Abraham looks set to remain on loan at Aston Villa for the remainder of the season rather than jumping ship to Wolves this month after Chelsea set a prohibitive price tag for the coveted 21-year-old striker.
According to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are asking for £50m should anyone want to buy Abraham. That is even more than the £35m that Stamford Bridge starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi could soon join Bayern Munich for and appears likely to prevent Abraham from being sold.
Abraham has scored 16 goals in 20 Championship game since joining Villa in August.
3. Everton Scouts Watch Potential Free Agent Target
Yacine Brahimi has been regularly speculatively linked with a big money move to the Premier League ever since starring for Algeria at the 2014 World Cup, usually for around £40m and usually with Liverpool or Manchester United named as suitors.
That, of course, never happened. But now as he nears the end of his current contract with Porto, the winger could yet find his way to England as a free agent.
Toffees boss Marco Silva has obvious strong ties with Portuguese football.
2. Benched Hart Linked With Championship Escape Route
Former England number one Joe Hart could be offered a fresh stab at first team football in the Championship after losing his place at Burnley halfway through his debut season.
Hart has been benched for Burnley’s last three games in favour of Tom Heaton after conceding five goals against Everton in December. But a report from the Sun claims Preston North End are considering an approach for the 31-year-old.
It is said that Preston were eyeing Heaton before he was recalled, with the Deepdale club seemingly simply switching their attention to Burnley’s new number two instead.
1. Perisic to Man Utd Is….Back On?
Jose Mourinho seriously wanted Inter winger Ivan Perisic during his time as Manchester United manager. But even though the Portuguese has been sacked, Perisic is still being linked with a move to Old Trafford as Inter apparently look to raise cash and budget space.
A report credited to Tuttosport in Italy alleges that Inter are looking at both Real Madrid veteran Luka Modric and Lazio hotshot Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and would therefore be willing to sacrifice an existing star – Perisic, for example – if it means landing the latter.
There is nothing to say that United are actually interested in taking the soon to be 30-year-old off Inter’s hands as he was specifically a Mourinho target that the club deemed too expensive.
But as far as the tabloids are concerned, once a Man Utd target…always a Man Utd target.
